communal space at a school in hampstead
The previous space was mainly laid to lawn with a big sycamore tree in a corner. The brief was to create a flexible space for the students to study, relax and socialise. The lawn which had been an issue due to lack of light and overuse was removed and replaced with paving. This flexible space is now used by the students throughout the year and also provides a great venue for school events. Planting of shrubs and colourful perennials all around the garden brings interest and texture. An additional multi stem tree on the other side of the garden brings height and balances the existing tree. The durable, light and colourful metal furniture not only brightens up the space but can also be easily moved to suit the usage of the garden.
